Dr. Who (The Early Years) - "And Now A Word From Our Sponser"

Cereal Prizes

Don't bother looking for this in stores, this is a pure circa 1971 box of cereal. What could be cooler than seeing your favourite box of cereal with an image of the Doctor on it?

How about knowing there is a free Doctor Who related prize inside? The best part? There are up to six different prizes to collect. What could be in the box? Is it something you don't have yet?

Granted, by today's standards not very aesthetic. But when you are a ten year old little boy in love with Doctor Who, you took whatever you could get.

So what will I get when I open my box of cereal? Will it be the Doctor? Will it be the Master? UNIT, Jo Grant, Brigadier, Bessie? Only one way to find out.
1.) Open box.
2.) Pour cereal into the largest mixing bowl.
3.) Look for the prize.
4.) Pour cereal back into box. (Though very unskillfully)
5.) Get yelled at by mum.

Doctor Who Graduation

My niece graduated from grade school this year. For her graduation, she asked for a Doctor Who themed party. I couldn't have been prouder. For all the kids, home-made "Tardis Bags" were presented.

A friend was called in to make the cake. Despite Despite having no knowledge of Doctor Who, I think she did a good job.

I was called in to supply the props; scarf, Tardis & action figures. I even had the soundtrack available, though it ultimately went unused.

No Doctor Who would be complete without a hidden 'Easter Egg'. This was found on back of the cake.

The Adventures of Quisp

Does anyone else remember early Saturday mornings, grabbing a bowl of cereal and watching cartoons before anyone else woke up? Some of my most treasured moments as a child involved those very things. Even when my siblings numbered only 2 instead of 7, it was still a rare occasion to find sugared cereal in the cupboard. Our typical cereal (if we had any) was usually Cheerio's, Chex or Corn Flakes (Maybe my parents had an affinity for 'C' named cereals). One recent trip to the store I discovered they still make a cereal of my youth. Quisp anyone? The back of the cereal box even has some fun reading for children to do as they eat (or youthful adults). The box is very retro (despite the web-site listed on the back) and I can almost see this box coming right from the 70's. So, who wants to join me in a bowl of cereal? (Well, not IN a bowl of cereal - You know what I mean.)
