Dr. Who (The Early Years) - Part 59 "Resurrection of the Daleks"

The Tardis is being jolted about in the time eddy. Desperately trying to free the Tardis before it breaks itself apart, the Doctor is successful, then lands on Earth to learn there is a 'time corridor' connecting Earth and some place in the future. While investigating an old warehouse, they meet Stein, a man stuttering and nearly crippled with fear. Turns out he's a trooper from the future, escaping the Daleks. As they continue their exploration of the warehouse, Turlough suddenly disappears, the Doctor fears he's stumbled into the time corridor.

On the other side of the time corridor, is a Dalek ship. It has just docked with a prison ship and exterminated just about the entire crew, save for a few who managed to escape. They are determined to keep the Daleks away from their prisoner, Davros, at all costs. Even if it means destroying the ship. Because they were stale-mated by the Movelleans for so long, they have acquired human servants to help. The leader of this particular group is known as Lytton. Essentially all Dalek servants were human, but are now clones controlled by the Daleks. However, Lytton seems to be the exception.

On the Dalek ship, Turlough is observed by the Daleks, but allowed to roam free. The Daleks hope to use him as bait to capture the Doctor. While on Earth, the Doctor and Tegan run into a military group who have discovered alien technology. The Doctor guesses what they are doing and helps them find a mutant Kaled creature. Tegan is hurt in the scuffle so the Doctor employs Stein to come with him in the Tardis to locate the other end of the time corridor. Stein is reluctant, but agrees. However, once on the Dalek ship, he suddenly loses his stutter and tells the Doctor he's a Dalek agent.

Turlough manages to run into the survivors of the prison ship and convinces them he's not a Dalek agent. But the Doctor is captured and on Earth Tegan's military friends are slowly replaced with Dalek agents. She's able to fool the military duplicates she's more injured than she appears with the help of Professor Laird. Their attempts to fool the duplicates fails are both are forced to enter the time corridor. Laird runs away in fear, but is brutally shot down. Tegan reluctantly enters the time corridor. But instead of running into Daleks, runs into Turlough who saves her life. Still unaware the Doctor is present, Tegan shows him the Tardis.

While being attached to the Dalek equipment which will drain the Doctors mind, he tries to convince Stein that he can break free from the Dalek conditioning. Eventually, the Doctor is successful. He destroys the machine and finds Tegan and Turlough. Taking them safely to he Tardis, he sets the Tardis controls for Earth, but heads out one last time to kill Davros. Much to Tegan's horror. However, when confronting him, he's reluctant to pull the trigger. Davros tells him he's like all Timelords, weak and only willing to watch, rather than take control. Reluctantly, the Doctor walks away.

The Doctor escapes back to the Tardis via the time corridor to destroy the Daleks in the warehouse. Using the 'alien technology' found there, he unleashes a gas which is deadly to the Daleks. On the Dalek ship, the Daleks arrive to execute Davros, per Supreme Dalek's orders. However, Davros has the same gas at his disposal and uses it against these Daleks. Delighted, Davros makes his escape, till the gas suddenly begins to affect him. To make matters worse, Stein has broken free of his Dalek conditioning and activates the ships self destruct button. In the hub-bu, Lytton gets away. Back on Earth, the effects of the gas on the Daleks is horrifying and Tegan has finally had enough. She's seen to much killing and decides to leave the Doctor. Remembering something her Aunt Vanessa once told her, Tegan tells the Doctor it's stopped being fun. The Doctor pleads with her not to leave 'this way', but she runs away.

Dr. Who (The Early Years) - Part 45 "Destiny of the Daleks"

It's the aftermath of the Key To Time adventure and Romana has decided it's time for her to regenerate. But she's doing something new we haven't seen before, she's choosing her body. It's interesting to note however, the Time Lords did give the second Doctor a choice of what he looked like, so this shouldn't be so surprising. When Romana comes out looking like Princess Astra, the Doctor sends her back. Next she comes out very short and blue, then as a voluptuous gypsy and a tall Amazonian woman. The Doctor rejects them all and says she needs to show a little style. When she comes out next, she's dressed like the Doctor and he finally accepts it, but she still looks like Astra underneath.

Because of the randomizer the Doctor installed after the Guardian swore revenge on him, the Tardis crew is back to visiting unknown places. Investigating the current planet (which looks like a quarry), a trembling causes bits of a building to fall on top of the Doctor. He decides to read a book as Romana goes back to the Tardis for K-9. However, while Romana is gone, the Doctor is rescued and captured by a strange, unemotional, alien race.

Meanwhile, Romana finds out she's being followed. While she's trying to lose him, she falls into the remains of an underground city. She soon learns she's on Skaro and the Daleks are still active. She is captured immediately and interrogated. Despite their technological lie detector she lies and claims she knows nothing about the Daleks. The machine indicates she's telling the truth. Thinking she's not a threat, they put her in a forced labor camp where the only way out, is if you die. Romana feigns death and uses a Time Lord trick of stopping her hearts. She's taken to the surface and buried.

The Doctors new 'friends' are the Movellans, a robotic race at war with the Daleks. They have come to Skaro to find out what the Daleks are searching for. The Doctor then meets Tyssan, the one who was following Romana. He tells the Doctor he must have spooked her before she was captured by the Daleks. The Doctor suggests he go on ahead to see if he can find what the Daleks are certain for. On the way, he finds Romana's grave, but she's already dug her way out. With Tyssan, the Doctor and Romana infiltrate the Dalek base and discover what the Daleks have been searching for: DAVROS!

It turns out, the Daleks and the Movellans have reached a stalemate in their war. With both groups knowing exactly how to outmaneuver each other. The Doctor congratulates them on discovering peace. Unfortunately, with the Daleks having Davros, the Movellans believe he can help them break the stalemate so they try to force the Doctor into helping them. He refuses so they threaten Romana. But the Doctor has shown Tyssan how to immobilize the Movellans and with the free Dalek slaves, stages a revolt. One escapes and tries to set off a device which will obliterate the planet, but Romana is successful in disarming him.

With the Movellan threat taken care of, the Doctor turns his attention back to Davros and the Daleks. This time, the Doctor tricks Davros into blowing up his Daleks. Defeated and captured, the Doctor puts Davros into suspended animation and gives him to Tyssan who is to take him to stand trial for crimes against the galaxy. With the Movellans nonoperational, Tyssan and the rest of the freed slaves take their ship to escape the planet.

WHO: Romana

PLANET OF ORIGIN: Gallifrey, era uncertain.

REASON FOR JOINING: Still traveling with the Doctor, Romana has regenerated - for reasons unknown.

Dr. Who (The Early Years) - Part 35 "Genesis of the Daleks"

The Doctor, Sarah and Harry are in mid-route via a trans-mat device when the Doctor is plucked from the travel by one of the Timelords of Gallifrey. They seek to recruit the Doctor in a task involving the Daleks. Foreseeing a time the Daleks become the dominant creatures in the universe the Doctor is to go back in time to he creation of the Daleks and given the options of averting their creation or affecting their genetic development so they develop into less aggressive creatures.

After arriving on Skaro, The Doctor, Sarah and Harry walk across a mine field where the Doctor nearly blows himself up. Finding a trench, they search it till they are caught in a cross-fire between Thal and Kaled troops. After things settle down, the Kaleds take Harry and the Doctor into their bunker, leaving Sarah thinking she is dead. Immediately, Harry and the Doctor are searched, items confiscated and refused tea. The Doctors Time-ring (which will take them back to the Tardis) is taken along with his sonic screwdriver, jelly babies and various other items.

The Kaleds are finally introduced to the Mark III travel machine, created by their top scientist Davros. He later declares they are to known as Daleks. While this is going on, the Doctor and Harry escape, meet up with Sarah who has befriended a Muto, and captured again. Learning the Doctor is from the future, Davros plans to torture Harry and Sarah unless the Doctor tells him about every Dalek defeat. Harry and Sarah try to persuade the Doctor to ignore them, but the Doctor gives in and the interrogation process is recorded.

Many of the scientists and some in the military realize the creatures Davros is creating is pure evil and group together to try and stop him. Davros tricks them into giving him time to decide if he wants to give up, but this just gives him time to make use of the few Daleks he's already created. He plans to find those who are loyal to him and exterminate the rest. This gives the Doctor the time to complete his task, utterly destroy the Daleks before they even begin. But he is reluctant to finally do so, believe that causing the genocide would make him no better than the Daleks.

Davros has a devious plan though and gives the Thals the information needed to crack their protective dome and destroy the Kaled people. He then double crosses the Thals by sending his few complete Dalek troops into the Thal dome to destroy everyone there. When Davros calls the rest of the Daleks back, a few Thal military leaders are successful in entombing Davros and his Daleks. So the Doctor ultimately has done what was intended, to hamper the progress of the Dalek. While inside the Kaled bunker, Davros is himself betrayed by the Daleks who consider him an inferior being. Now fully autonomous, the Daleks vow to repair and grow stronger and take their "rightful" place as the supreme power of the universe.

WHO: Davros

PLANET OF ORIGIN: Skaro
